About the role

Our Research & Development team is on the lookout for a dedicated Sustaining Engineer to join us in Chipping Norton, NSW. Reporting to the R&D Manager – Planning, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining, enhancing and optimising our existing Daikin products throughout their lifecycle. The primary focus will be to ensure our products continue to perform exceptionally well after launch, tackling everything from performance and reliability to cost efficiency.

No two days will be the same as you will be involved in:

- Product Lifecycle, quality monitoring & Support: Investigating and resolving technical issues from service, warranty and manufacturing team, analysing and correcting design-related defects, and conducting thorough root cause analyses to implement effective corrective actions.

- Design Improvements: Evaluating and integrating alternative components, modifying designs for performance enhancements, efficiency, or durability based on crucial stakeholder feedback, and identifying opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality.

- Cross-functional Collaboration: Working closely with manufacturing to address production inefficiencies, collaborating with procurement to ensure component availability for re-designs, and coordinating with our quality team to uphold product integrity and reliability.

- Documentation & Compliance: Keeping all design changes and improvements meticulously documented, including technical specifications, drawings, BOMs, and ECNs, while ensuring continuous compliance with all relevant industry standards and regulations.

About you

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is essential
- Minimum 3 years of knowledge of Product Development Process, being familiar with PD processes flow to implement product changes/improvements.
- Product knowledge across HVAC components, functionalities to identify problems will be high advantageous.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous care in identifying and fixing issues without ever compromising product quality.
- Project Management Skills: Excellent ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities, taking full responsibility and ownership.
- Continuous Improvement Mentality: A genuine drive for ongoing product enhancement, cost reduction, and efficiency optimization.
