Daikin proud to announce sponsorship of the 2018 NSW Women’s Rugby team
This year, Australia is holding a national women’s Rugby Union competition for the very first time – and Daikin is proud to be announced as the principal partner of the NSW Women’s Rugby team. Boasting four Wallaroos, the NSW XV is off to a strong start – claiming victory in their Round One match against Queensland Women, and going on to defeat Western Force Women in Round Two.
For Daikin, the sponsorship represents the chance to build on our five-year sponsorship commitment of the NSW Waratahs, and support the increasing recognition of women in the sporting arena. “We are proud to extend our partnership to the NSW Women’s Rugby team and it is fantastic to be associated with the inaugural Super W competition,” says Dan Tosh, Daikin’s National Marketing Manager. “The game in New South Wales continues to grow and we want to be part of this exciting chapter for the sport.”
The launch of the competition is an equally exciting opportunity for players. “I think this level is important for the progression of Rugby in NSW, and to help girls realise that Rugby Union is a sporting pathway that they can take,” says NSW Women’s member Ana-Lise Sio. “I think the end goal for us is to aim for the highest level, which is the Wallaroos and that’s definitely something we are setting our eyes on long term. Hopefully we can become pioneers for the sport and really take off from there.”
Both Daikin and NSW Rugby look forward to a successful season for the Women’s team. “We are delighted to have Daikin as front of jersey partner for our NSW Women’s Team,” says NSW Waratahs CEO, Andrew Hore. “Daikin has been one of our most committed partners and has made an immense contribution to the growth of the game in our State. Like us, Daikin pride themselves on being leaders in their field and the Super W competition leads an exciting era for our female players.”
The next match for the NSW Women’s team will be against Brumbies Women at Pittwater Park on Saturday 24th March 2018 at 3pm.
