About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager – Manufacturing, this is a key role involved with the development, design, and delivery of locally manufactured Air Handling Unit (AHU) projects. You will ensure all projects are optimised for manufacturability, quality, performance, and compliance with Australian standards.
Key responsibilities include:
• Developing detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, and cost estimates for custom HVAC products.
• Collaborating with sales, procurement, production, and QA to exceed customer expectations.
• Conducting design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering to optimise product performance and cost.
• Specifying and selecting materials and components in line with industry standards and sustainability objectives.
• Supporting the production team during manufacturing by troubleshooting design and assembly issues.
• Providing leadership and guidance to staff engaged in related technical activities.
About You
We are seeking a specialist with extensive experience in AHU design for manufacture within the Australian HVAC industry.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• More than 8 years of experience in a similar engineering role.
• Strong proficiency in CAD software, including SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Revit.
• A solid understanding of airflow dynamics, thermodynamics, and acoustic considerations.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
• Knowledge of sustainable design practices and energy efficiency optimisation.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
• Relevant professional accreditation (e.g., CPEng, MIEAust) is highly advantageous
